As we come to the end of term one for most students, we want to take a moment to celebrate the hard work our students have done raising money for loads of charities across the country.
From hosting quizzes, to awareness stalls, even a wet sponge toss, our groups have done it all this term and have collectively raised over £1200 for their chosen charities!

RAMS x MKS raised £56.83 for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation during their Metal Mario Event. The two groups got together to host a mini Mario Kart tournament in aid of their chosen charity which was a huge success with their members.
The Paramedic Society have raised £90 so far for the Ambulance Staff Chairty, but they haven't finished yet. They plan to run their charity fundraiser across this academic year, so watch this space for updates on them.
Cue Sports and the Mental Health and Wellbeing Society have raised £99.75 for SHOUT, a charity raising awareness for Mental Health. The groups hosted a pool tournament with members and regular visitors of the venue.
Staffs Scarlettes have raised £201 for Movember, a charity they raise money for every year, with each year being a great event for them, both with raising money for the charity and raising awareness of the stuggles of men's mental health.
Sticking with Movember for another group, the Computing Society also raised £314 during their month long campaign. The group hosted a weekly stall with a guess the number game, but with a twist. Participants could choose to sabotage the number to throw off other guesses!
Our Islamic Soceity raised £104 for Islamic relief during their annual fundraising week. This year they hosted bake sales on Leek Road campus.
The LGBTQ+ Society raised £60.80 for World AIDS Day, hosting awareness stalls and a collaborative artist fair in Ember Lounge. The group also hosted a prize draw, with plenty of giveaways up for grabs.
And last (but by no means least) on our list is Ella Wilson, who raised a whopping £330 for Children In Need, bravely hosting a wet sponge toss in the middle of November.
A huge congratulations to all of our groups who have raised money for charity this year so far. We can't wait to see what other events you have in store!
If you have hosted a charity event that we don't know about, please let us know at studentengagement@staffs.ac.uk
