So, you've found a student group you'd love to get involved with - what now?

See our full list of clubs and societies then follow these steps

Here's a quick guide to your next steps...

Step 1 | Express your interest.

This is the first and most important thing to do once you find your student group (at Get Involved > Clubs and Societies). Once you're on the profile page of your chosen group, use the link to add an 'Expression of Interest' to your basket, log in using your student sign-in and check out.

This is free, regardless of the group you're looking at, and allows you to keep up to date with everything happening with that club or society.

Step 2 | Sign up for a session in advance.

For your safety, we now ask that you book your place at any face-to-face events in advance before attending. You can do that through the Sign Ups on your chosen group's page or via an event on the What's On hub.

If you're feeling nervous about attending a session in person, we hope this video will reassure you about the measures we've put in place to keep you safe.

You don't need to sign up in advance if the session you want to attend is online only.

Step 3 | Attend Your First Session!

Now it's time to Give It A Go, at your first taster session!

Take a look at What's On offer. Most groups hold free sessions for the first few weeks to help you decide whether you'd like to get involved regularly or not. Go along to as many or few as you like to make your decision or even just to entertain yourself for the first few weeks whilst you settle in.

Step 4 | Join.

Enjoyed yourself? Then join the group by adding a 'Student Membership' to your basket and checking out. You can find a video guide on how to do this below.

Some student groups require a small membership fee - this helps to keep the group running and providing you with the best possible sessions but a lot are free too.

Bonus step | Create Your Own!

Didn't find what you were looking for this time? No problem! Why not create your own club or society at your study site?

You can submit your idea here and the friendly Student Engagement team will help you to set it up.
