12/01 - It was a busy first week of Staffs 2026 for me! I’ve planned all the dates for Officers on Tour until the end of the year (which should be on the website soon), met with university staff about digital skills and was involved with discussions about Global Games Jam in a couple of weeks. Most importantly, however, following the closure of campus last Friday (the same date as some of your deadlines!) I spent the entire day chasing up staff to ensure students who were unable to access equipment were able to get extensions. Thank you to the reps who reached out, and thank you to the staff who helped us out on such short notice!

19/01 - Last week, I attended a meeting about the Student Finance Bill that recently went through parliament (which you can read more about here!) We’re so happy to have been asked for our input on this bill, and it was great to hear the opinions of Sabbs from across the country on it. On Monday, we had our first JSEC (Joint Student Experience Committee) of the year – where I raised concerns around AI and the impact of the Catalyst room name changes. I also spoke about our Drugs and Alcohol Survey results as well as some of the work we have done around the Games Collab module. Later in the week, we also attended a meeting about the new Student Village Hub, particularly about how the student spaces will look. We’ve provided our feedback on the current plan for these spaces and look forward to seeing how it looks when it’s finished!

26/01 - I’m making some movement on one of my manifesto points! I’ve started some important conversations about how we can do some student showcase events in advance of GradEX, and will hopefully have some more information to share soon! Following Rep Social, I picked up some smaller student issues. We also had an exceptional Board of Governors, with a chance to input on some very important (but very confidential) things!
