Whilst many of us were chillling in our PJ's on Sunday morning, 22nd March, our dedicated paramedic students were limbering up to complete the Stafford Half Marathon.

With an early start, registration opened at 08:00 and members of our amazing Paramedic Society were at the start line, eager to get those steps in.

13 hard won miles later, it was smiles all round as they reached the finish line and claimed their medals, and a place in our hearts for going the extra mile for charity.

The committee told us: "Seven members of Staffs Parasoc took part in the Stafford Half Marathon on Sunday, marking the society’s first time entering the event. As the University of Staffordshire’s Paramedic Society, it was a good opportunity to take on a new challenge and get involved in a local event. For several members, this was their first time running a half marathon, making it a big milestone.

One moment that stood out was second-year Tomos completing the race in his student paramedic uniform (minus the boots). Conditions on the day were ideal, with cool, cloudy weather, although the hilly course still made it a tough run. Support from the crowd and other runners helped keep everyone going throughout.

There were also some lighter moments along the way. Committee members James and Tom ended up in a friendly, competitive run with a couple of other participants, which helped pass the miles. The unexpected appearance of beer and wine at the halfway point was also a memorable part of the course.

The group ran in support of The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC), making the event even more meaningful. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience for everyone involved and a solid first outing at the Stafford Half Marathon for Staffs Parasoc."

The Ambulance Staff Charity being a cause which they are passionate about has been the focus of their fundraising efforts - anyone wishing to donate can do so here.

Congratulations ParaSoc - You make us proud to be part of Staffs!
