Proud to Shout About is a platform for students to celebrate their successes in being part of the union. Whether it’s running societies or simply moments that make you proud, this is the space to share them. It’s all about highlighting the effort, dedication, and passion that students put into their university life and giving them the recognition they deserve.

After many weeks of hard work planning their trip behind the scenes: completing crucial First Aid training, Risk Assessments and countless Health & Safety checks, and planning this trip down to a T, our new Caving Club attended their first offical StUCC expedition to Peak Cavern.

Partnering with experienced cavers from the Technical Speleological Group, our new committee leaders were excited to welcome students to explore the cave system with them and discover the thrill of caving.

You may be wondering, 'What is Caving?' and the answer to that is that it's the exploration of our natural underground cave system - places shaped over millions of years by water and rock. It's all about travelling through an environment that's completely hidden from the surface.

That might mean walking through huge chambers, following underground rivers, climbing, descending ladders, or using ropes to safely access deeper parts of a system. Every cave is different — no two trips are ever the same.

The new committee have lots of plans for upcoming trips and expeditions and are looking forward to inviting new members along  - and you’re welcome to join!

You'll explore places most humans never see.

If you would like to learn more about the Caving Club check out their webpage, which has all of the information on how to join, along with their social media handles if you'd like to ask the committee a question, or if you are interested in participating in further activities and opportunities that they are involved in.
