Proud to Shout About is a platform for students to celebrate their successes in being part of the union. Whether it’s running societies or simply moments that make you proud, this is the space to share them. It’s all about highlighting the effort, dedication, and passion that students put into their university life and giving them the recognition they deserve.

For both Valentines day and Aromantic Awareness week, The LGBTQ+ Society, The Creative Writing Society and The Digital Art Society held a themed zine collaboration. (explain a zine) As the name of the event states, the theme of our zine was "Love in All Shapes" where we celebrated all the forms that love comes in.
From romantic love to familial love, from platonic love to a love of hobbies, we encouraged students to draw or write a piece of artwork which celebrated a form of love that mattered to them. To ensure all members fully understood our aim, as well as had access to needed materials, we hosted an initial session where we provided reclaimed materials, art supplies, refreshments and an informational PowerPoint. After the PowerPoint was explained, we then encouraged members to sit in groups, interact with each other and begin to plan and create their artwork.
To allow for full support for our members, each society also ran follow up sessions where they supported members in their areas of expertise and encouraged students to attend new society sessions to complete their artwork.
Each society had a different goal:
- The LGBTQ+ Society assisted with physical art media and support with layouts and ideas.
- The Creative Writing Society assisted with writing, layouts and writing media.
- The Digital Art Society assisted with uploading media into digital formats, doing mixed media work with digital and physical artwork as well as using digital art software.
Together, we managed to support students with expression of self as well as making others aware of less talked about forms of love. Digital copies of this zine will be released to each society's discords and social media platforms.
