Proud to Shout About It – SUDC x Idol Second Dance Collab

Proud to Shout About is a platform for students to celebrate their successes in being part of the union. Whether it’s running societies or simply moments that make you proud, this is the space to share them. It’s all about highlighting the effort, dedication, and passion that students put into their university life and giving them the recognition they deserve.

Staffs Idol is Proud to shout about their second dance collab with SUDC! Held on Wednesday (3rd December), this collab was just as successful as the last, with both Staffs Idol members and SUDC members attending and participating in all the activities.

We started off by showing the SUDC members our warm-up, as last time they showed us theirs. Members of SUDC then taught us all some new dance moves and special techniques. We were taught how to step and spin to the music, as well as how to do a small leap!

After learning some of the techniques, we took a short break whilst all attending members voted on a K-pop dance they wanted to learn. A compilation had been put together by the Idol committee of KPop dances they were able to teach, and this video was played for everyone at the collab to pick the two they wanted to learn.

The song Gnarly was a fan favourite, and we started off by teaching this (it was harder than we expected, but everyone enjoyed it, so it was fine!) Once everyone was comfortable with Gnarly, we moved on to the song Rover, which was a lot easier than Gnarly but just as fun!

At the end, a few members of SUDC and Idol decided they wanted to record some covers of Gnarly together, so we did this! It was a great session, and everyone had lots of fun, and we're all looking forward to more collabs between Idol Soc and SUDC!
