Over the past year, there has been a lot of discourse between the Mario and Sonic fanbases, with both franchises releasing a new racing game. Fans have been going back and forth, insisting that one is superior to the other, so we decided to collaborate with the Mario Kart Society to do away with all that and collectively agree that both games are a lot of fun.
Proud to Shout About is a platform for students to celebrate their successes in being part of the union. Whether it’s running societies or simply moments that make you proud, this is the space to share them. It’s all about highlighting the effort, dedication, and passion that students put into their university life and giving them the recognition they deserve.

Therefore, we held a joint tournament of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds and Mario Kart World on 28th November in Verve and invited members of both societies to take part in some friendly competition and, as was eloquently put on the poster, "enjoy the best of both Worlds".
Participants could compete in both components of the tournament without needing to be members of both societies, giving students an opportunity to enjoy a kart-racing experience outside the one they may usually find in their designated society. This event was a great success.
All members involved had a lot of fun playing both games and socialising through a shared passion of not just kart racers, but also Mario and Sonic. Everyone was able to enjoy a delightful mix of casual social gaming and tense, exciting tournament moments, including special guests Precious and Leah.
