Each year we ask students one simple question, and right now we want to know what Stafford & London students have to say!
Every year during Speak Week, we ask students one simple question:
“What would you do if you ran the University?”
As Your Union, the most important thing is that we understand the student voice; your experiences, perspectives, opinions and ideas.
We're all students at Staffs and we're all people with successes, priorities and challenges that we might want to share or take action on.
As your representative body we know that students are asked to complete all kinds of polls, surveys and quizzes throughout your studies, so Speak Week is our opportunity to keep it simple and give you the flexibility to tell us what you would change if you were in charge.
What would you start, or stop? What would you prioritise, promote and keep unchanged? Whether it's to do with your course, commute, equipment, resources or anything at all that could improve our university, let us know!
When's it happening?
Stafford Students can share their thoughts during ReFresh Week, between 19th and 23rd of January. Look out for a suggestion box in the atrium at Blackheath Lane throughout the week, and say come and say hi to Elisha during the ReFresh Fair on Friday 23rd.
London Students can submit their responses between 19th and 30th January, thanks to the staggered return of some cohorts. Connor will have a suggestion box set up in the students' union space for you to share your thoughts!
What happens with your responses?
Once we've collected what everyone thinks, we don't just read it and move on - the Students' Union makes use of your contributions to create changes students want to see!
Last year's analysis of students' Speak Week submissions was used to create a one-page summary that was shared with Leadership Race candidates to help them write the best manifestos they could. Plus, the themes from students' ideas were also used to inform the conversations our Trustee Board had during our annual strategic review - and, where students highlight more immediate opportunities or problems, we feed them straight on to the relevant university teams for instant action.
So, what are you waiting for? Tell us what you would do if you ran the university here!
