Spotlight Cosy Club

Welcome to Spotlight! Each week, we feature a student group that aligns with your interests. Our goal is to help you find societies that resonate with your interests. With hundreds of student groups available, both free and with nominal membership fees, there is sure to be something that matches your personal taste! This week, we're happy to introduce you to one of our coolest societies - the Cosy Club!

The Cosy Club is a group of students who started in September 2022. Since then, they have been focused on creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere filled with activities that bring joy.

The cosy club is headed by Eleni Hardman – Manager, Maddison Donoghue - Finance Officer, Taran Taylor - Wellbeing Officer and Amy Wall - Communications Officer.

The manager of the society Eleni says, “Cosy club as a whole is just supposed to be a warm environment to come and socialise and share your interests, we like taking suggestions from people and what they'd like to do. We have a pretty active discord where people like to talk and share things, we also have an Instagram. We have around 10-15 people show up to the general sessions and we have around 80 members total”.

Cosy Club Events and Activities

Cosy Club had some gardening classes and ran a variety of events/trips including visiting the cat cafe, bonfire night campfire, squeezebox nights, films in the film theatre.

During the Halloween this year they also held pumpkin carving with ResLife.

The Book Club

They meet once or twice a month for their Book Club gathering where they discuss a book that has been previously set two weeks before and then decide on a new book. It's a fun and warm environment. The Book Club takes place every second Wednesday from 13:30 to 15:30 at the Greenhouse Royal Doulton.

Arts & Crafts

The Arts & Crafts sessions are scheduled every Thursday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at L414 Flaxman building change weekly according to the preferences of the committee members. Mini art games and origami tables are among the activities that are offered. Attendees usually come to the sessions for socialising and to work on their individual projects, but an optional activity is also provided within the art session.

Game Days

Game Days are a new addition this year. They are gatherings where people bring their own games and consoles to play with each other. These events are highly popular, and participants bring a wide range of items, including switches, Magic: The Gathering cards, DS games, and various board games. Game Day takes place every Wednesday from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Flaxman building, located at L216.

They also have a squeezebox night coming up on December 4th which will be a quiz with a prize for the winning team. More details of the event can be found here.
