Hey there! It's that time of the week again to check out "Spotlight" for student groups you might want to join. We're all about making your campus life more awesome. We're talking sports, arts, academics – you name it! There are over a hundred groups waiting for you and joining won't break the bank. Some are even free! Just view the Clubs and Societies page to see what's up. Don't miss out on the fun – it's your opportunity to meet new friends and enjoy yourself. This week in Spotlight, we are introducing the Life Drawing Society!

The Life Drawing Society is for those interested in improving their art through life drawing, which involves drawing live models or generally drawing from real life to improve art skills. The society is run by Society Manager Ciaran Smith, Finance Officer Eve Callaghan, Communications Officer Emma Leckey and Wellbeing and Inclusion Officer Esther Prjanikov, with a focus on allowing students to improve in an easy-going environment.

Life Drawing Society Activities and Events

Life Drawing Society hosts two sessions every week on Monday and Wednesday. The sessions are split into two halves; the first half is from 6-7 pm, with the second being from 7-8 pm in K020.

Twice a week, these sessions are around drawing, featuring volunteer models who are also fellow students. These sessions can be based around anything – whether it is a focus on models in costumes or even sessions drawing each other! Every activity helps students improve in a safe environment, with all mediums accepted, from pencils and paint to digital art!

Everyone is welcome to join these sessions regardless of skill level or experience!

Benefits of joining the Life Drawing Society

There are several benefits of joining the Life Drawing Society. Firstly, it helps artists improve their art skills by enhancing their knowledge of anatomy, proportion, and observational skills. Secondly, it can be a great stress-relieving activity that provides a calming break from daily routine.

It also allows non-artists to engage in a relaxing and creative activity that can help them unwind. These benefits make life drawing a valuable practice for anyone looking to develop their skills or enjoy a soothing activity.

One of the key advantages of being a part of this group is the opportunity to practice regularly and receive feedback from peers. By engaging in discussions with other members about your artwork and techniques, you can gain valuable insights into how to improve your work. This feedback is crucial for growth and development as an artist, and the Life Drawing Society provides an amazing platform for it.

Does that sound interesting, and do you want to join the society?
