Spotlight of the Week –  Staffs IDOL Society

Hey Students! In this week's Spotlight, we are presenting you with another exciting society, a group of students’ who have a love of singing, acting, dancing, and modelling! Those who know, know! Yes, we are talking about the IDOL Society at Staffs!

What is Staffs IDOL Society? And what does it mean?

In Japan and South Korea, idols are entertainers who mostly perform music or covers of music. The idol society at staffs is focused on these entertainers representing K-Pop, J-Pop and C-Pop culture!

So, if you love K-pop; BTS, Blackpink or are interested in idol culture, you might want to join this society! With the Idol Society, you can meet others interested in the culture and learn idol choreography through dance covers and Idol music.

And don't worry! If you are new to this and don't know much about Idol culture, you can still join! The current committee members are Kara Tang – Manager; Mia Gale – Finance Officer; Rhianne Horne – Communication Officer; and Alina Brown – Wellbeing Officer.

Activities and Events

The society meets twice a week on Tuesdays at 4:30 – 6:15 in the Sixth Form College's dance studio and then in Flaxman L410 from 6:40-9 PM. On Thursdays – 5 – 9 PM in Flaxman L410. Sessions involve mirrored dances and random dance playlists, as well as learning choreography.

During these sessions you can join dance groups in non-professional and non-serious environment, learn some moves and show off your talent!

Upcoming Plans

The society is planning a session for Halloween as well as some non-dance events such as bowling trips and photo card trading events. The committee is also in talks with other societies for collaborations, and you may also see them hosting some of our events in LRV!

Benefits of being part of the Idol Society

As a member, you don't only get to attend regular weekly sessions but also other events they plan in the future. You will meet like-minded people who share the same interests as you and make cool friends! The dancing sessions and activities will grow your confidence as a performer and otherwise in life.

It's a great idea to join this society because dancing helps you let go of worries. When you move to the music, it can make you feel happier and more relaxed and your experience at Staffs even better! It's like a fun way to shake off all the tension and feel better. So why not join? You can join first two sessions for free and decide if you want to continue after that.
