Interested in helping design, develop and building a racecar? Zoom on over to this weeks Student Group Spotlight, Staffordshire Univerity Racing!

Staffordshire Uni Racing is a Formula Student team that builds a car from a design concept based on a set of rules, and takes it to Silverstone in July to compete against other universities from all over the world. They design and manufacture almost everything, both in-house and outsourced to theirr sponsors. This involves testing the car at the university's car park and a race track to ensure the car is ready for the competition. In addition to this, as a part of the competition, the team partake in static events, such as a Business Plan Presentation, an Engineering Design Report, and a Costings Judging. Wherein the team provides static documents which follow the Formula Student UK rules.

"Being a part of the team is a great way to learn more about engineering industry standard such as CATIA V6, and being able to gain hands-on motorsport experience. The competition also allows you to network with employers within the automotive industry. Being a part of the team helps to build up your confidence, presentation skills, engineering skills, and communication skills. It is a great way to begin your career within the automotive & motorsport industry!"

"With an exhilarating win of 1st place in the First Year Vehicle Category at the 2021 Competition, an astonishing 2nd Overall for 2021, 4th Place in 2022, 2nd Place Overall for 2023 and 4th Overall in 2024, we are the highest placing UK university dynamically against other FS Teams globally, and we are looking for more students to engage in this project. We hope you can help us to another year of success!"
