What is Churnet Sound Radio?
Churnet Sound Radio is a not-for-profit online radio station, and its brand purpose is to entertain, engage and promote the interests of local communities in the Stoke on Trent, Newcastle, Staffordshire Moorlands and Cheshire East through all platforms to enable us to expand our listeners. We broadcast via the internet, churnetsound.co.uk website, DAB, Alexa and Apps and have social media and Twitter. We broadcast local news, local weather, local events, show biz etc. One of our main aims is to combat social isolation amongst rural communities.
What will I be doing?
- Present daytime or evening shows and act as the public face (or voice) on various programmes including sports-based, current affairs and entertainment shows for Churnet Sound Radio and is responsible for the IT/Technical Director/Socia Media, Website and Programming.
- Radio personalities may be called on to either host or make an appearance at a charitable event or other public function for the Station.
- Present up to date and accurate information to listeners.
- Participate in fundraising efforts for the station.
- Interview guests, talk with the audience and help with preparing content for the program.
- Co-ordinate with the Directors to develop program material while taking into consideration the type of show you are creating and requests from the audience.
Skills and experience desired:
- You may have to prepare a script, so good writing skills can prove useful.
- You will need to work a control board, while remembering scripts therefore the quality of a good memory is something needed.
As a volunteer you will be responsible to the Directors of Churnet Sound Radio and Station Management.
