Opportunity description:

This role job involves running weekly support groups for the LGBTQ+ community of Staffordshire.

The group would take place in Stafford or Lichfield. This support group would be primarily a social group, but there may be sensitive topics discussed, such as homophobia, suicidal ideation and difficult home lives.

You will never be left alone with a support group, we will always be contactable. For the first several sessions the group runs, we will sit in the group with you and help facilitate the discussions and discuss afterwards any difficulties you may have had.

You will be required to have a DBS check which will be submitted by ourselves and you will be reimbursed with vehicle travel expenses.

Training:

The candidate will be given full support and training from the staff, including trained counsellors, on how to handle any difficult conversation. There is a full safeguarding policy as well as a volunteer booklet that will help provide guidance.

Skills and development:

  • Working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Interpersonal development
  • Event and structured discussion organisation.
