 Opportunity   description:

UK-Med is a frontline humanitarian medical NGO who respond rapidly to emergencies, delivering the expertise needed to support local health services and save people’s lives. We are also the delivery partners for the UK Emergency Medical Team (UK-EMT): the frontline of the UK government’s response to a humanitarian crisis overseas. Drawing from our membership of 1000 global healthcare professionals, we recruit and train teams who are ready to deploy within 24 hours’ notice. For more information on UK-Med and UK-EMT, please see our website here

UK-Med/UK-EMT will be running a humanitarian response simulation exercise deploying a Type 2 field hospital to exercise our clinical and logistics staff in the functioning of a Type 2 facility at Weston Park, Shifnal.

To effectively exercise our clinical teams, we are looking for volunteers who can act as patients for the clinicians being exercised. Each person will be fully briefed for any intervention they are taking part in and can experience the functioning of a Type 2 field hospital and the work that UK-Med and UK-EMT does. This will give an insight into the UK Government’s official response to humanitarian emergencies, such as the 2023 Turkey / Syria earthquake.

The simulation will run from 9:00am on Tuesday 9th September and will end on the afternoon of Wednesday 10th at 5:00pm. Any volunteers will have local transport costs reimbursed and lunch provided.
