This week is the Student Volunteering Network’s (SVN) “Student Volunteering Week” (Try saying that 5 times), and during this week, we’ll be looking at some useful tips and tricks to prepare you for any future volunteering you may wish to do. We’ll also be showing you some great local and national organisations that offer loads of volunteering opportunities.

But volunteering doesn’t have to mean only working with charities. You can also volunteer by being part of a committee for a student-led group, or volunteering on other areas of campus.

Volunteering doesn’t always have to volunteer in person. There are so many ways for you to get involved, from supporting events, to taking part in a larger project. You can even volunteer from your own home with online volunteering opportunities, and with so many organisations needing volunteer support, there are a lot of student friendly ways to make a positive impact within your community.

Putting some time aside to help in the local area not only helps the community, but it also helps those who volunteer by helping them to build strong connections, and giving them a sense of fulfilment, working alongside people who share similar goals and interests. It can even open doors to new career paths and provide valuable work experience and support in building professional skills.

So, if you can’t figure out where to start, don’t worry! We’ve got you covered, helping you find exciting new opportunities, from supporting local charities, to working with on-campus student groups.
