Want to know how our wonderful Advice Team support students during your time at Staffs? Here's a quick rundown!
At Staffordshire Students’ Union, your wellbeing is our priority, and we’re committed to creating an environment where every student feels supported, valued, and able to thrive. Our Advice Service is built on the belief that every student deserves support that is free, confidential, impartial - and delivered by people who genuinely care about your success and are ready to stand beside you whenever you need us. 💚
Between August and February, our team supported 605 students and handled 639 cases, each one representing a moment where a student reached out and found someone ready to listen, guide, and empower them.
Alongside this, the FoodHub continues to make a real difference, helping students in financial difficulty with the essentials they need such as food and other groceries.
In the same period:
- 158 students received vouchers
- 269 vouchers in total have been issued to these students
We’re committed to ensuring that no student faces hardship alone. When someone reaches out, they’re met with real support from a team who genuinely cares - every interaction demonstrates our promise to stand beside students through whatever challenges they face.
Our service is driven by dedicated staff who champion students every single day (with two new Advisors joining the team very soon! 👀):
- Ralph Hayward - Students’ Union Advisor
- Elisha Lycett – Union Site Manager (Stafford)
- Connor Clarke – Union Site Manager (London)
- Lisa Hough - Deputy Chief Executive (Student Services)
- Jamie Robertson - Student Voice and Advocacy Manager
Their expertise, compassion, and commitment ensure that every student who walks through our doors receives personalised, empowering support. They bring not only professional knowledge, but genuine care for the students they work with. Every interaction reflects their dedication to helping you feel heard, supported, and confident in your next steps.
When you come to us, we take the time to understand your situation, explore every option available, and help you plan the best way forward. We make sure you always feel informed, supported, and clear about what happens next. Our goal is to give you the confidence to move through any challenge with guidance you can trust.
