Proud to Shout About is a platform for students to celebrate their successes in being part of the union. Whether it’s running societies or simply moments that make you proud, this is the space to share them. Proud to Shout About is a platform for students to celebrate their successes in being part of the union. Whether it’s running societies or simply moments that make you proud, this is the space to share them. It’s all about highlighting the effort, dedication, and passion that students put into their university life and giving them the recognition they deserve.

The Sewing Session, organised by our Finance Officer, provided a hands-on look at costume prop creation and fabric maintenance. Using a detailed PowerPoint presentation, students explored essential sewing materials including often-overlooked tools like needle threaders and seam rippers before applying these skills to both personal repairs and creative projects.

This event was a huge success! The session organiser led an informative workshop designed to help students with their costume-making. From mastering the basics to discovering the magic of "hidden" tools like pin cushions, needle threaders and seam rippers, everyone walked away with the skills to repair everything from favourite T-shirts to cosy blankets.

We covered a variety of stitches: Running, Back, Ladder, and Blanket. This gave everyone a solid foundation for joining fabrics. To put those new skills to the test, the group took on the challenge of crafting handmade felt wallets and keyholders. At its heart, our society is all about this kind of "socialised learning," where we combine a passion for media and character representation in this welcoming, creative community.

Most importantly if anyone struggled: those with hands-on knowledge were there to assist!

The Cosplay Society hosts weekly events every Wednesday from 3 PM – 5 PM. These sessions are generally voluntary and feature a variety of social activities, workshop events, competitions, local outings and collaborative society clashes!
