How can I join a group?

  1. Visit http://www.staffsunion.com/activities/clubsandsocs/ and log in using your student log in details.

  2. Use the drop down menus to find a group that you like the sound of.

  3. Click to add membership to your basket. You can add as many memberships as you like (as long as you can afford them).

  4. Once you have selected all the groups you wish to join, head to your basket and proceed to pay for the memberships. Be aware that you may need to purchase Clubs and Society Insurance.

  5. When you have paid for your memberships, you are now a full member of the group. Contact your new committee for more information on sessions or find the group’s social media pages. Have fun!

How can I start up a group?

  1. Visit http://www.staffsunion.com/activities/clubsandsocs/ and scroll to the bottom of the page. You will see a link under “Don’t see something you like?”. This will take you to an online form to complete (Direct link is http://staffordshire.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0CG5LLyaUvS8eVv). It will ask questions such as your name, contact details and for descriptions of your proposed group/activity.

  2. Once this has been submitted, you will receive a reply within 10 working days letting you know if you have been successful.

  3. You will be asked to attend a New Start-Up meeting with someone from the Student Engagement Department to discuss procedures and policies in more detail. Any questions you might have about running a group can be asked at this meeting. We will also go through the final steps of creating your group.

  4. After this meeting, your group will have a webpage on the Students’ Union for you to edit and update with information.

  5. 6 weeks after your original New Start Up meeting, we will contact you to catch up and see if there is any additional support you may need or if you have any problems.

  6. You will then be a fully-fledged group. You will be eligible for committee elections and to take part in the next year’s Welcome Week fairs.
