My name is Leah and I have been a cosplayer for around 7 years. I tend to attend conventions around Manchester, like MCM and Doki Doki Festival, however I am aiming to start attending conventions in different places like Birmingham when conventions reopen. I mostly cosplay from anime like Fate/Stay Night and Sailor Moon, however I also cosplay a lot from games too!
I think that I would be well suited to the role of a Communications Officer for the Cosplay and Convention Society specifically. Firstly, I have helped organise and run cosplay meetups and events both in and outside of conventions in the past. I think that this experience with running events with cosplayers would help me to plan more fun, interesting events for everyone in the Society - both those who are new to cosplay and veterans!
Since the Society is currently unable to run events in the same way, it has been much less active than it usually would be. As Communications Officer, I would love to help in getting the Society to be much more active with more frequent events alongside the bigger, creative sessions (like prop making).
Also, I have worked a lot with social media in the past and I believe I could be quite helpful with marketing as I have experience with graphic design and have a decent amount of outreach in the convention community. I think that this could both help bring new members to the Society as well as being helpful to the Finance Officer when trying to secure discounts for Society members.
Overall, I believe I would make an effective Communications Officer for the Cosplay and Convention Society, and I hope that you have faith in me to do the job well too!
