Nobody does it like Choto

Hello, my name is Anesu Choto, and I am running to become your full-time officer for next year. I plan to fight to get the Student’s Union back on solid ground after facing such a difficult year, bringing back a sense of normality to the student experience on campus.

One key agenda I aim to achieve is mental health awareness within sports and societies via the formation of a new programme: ‘You’re Not Alone’. The main aspect of this programme involves electing designated members in clubs and societies as a buddy system, who will be given mental awareness training to support and guide their fellow society members when needed.

If elected, I vow to increase the support of our sports clubs through organising rallies for our players at fixtures. Celebrations at games are a key aspect of sports, and as members of Staffs, we should aim to embody the concept of ‘Win Together, Lose Together’ by bringing our supporters to these games would give us the senses of belonging as a family.

Sometimes it’s just the thought that counts, so imagine there was an online system or perhaps a text message where you can sign up to receive  positive, motivational quotes  on a day to day basis to combat mental health. Would you sign up for it?

If elected, I aim to continue to improve the health, safety, and security on campus for all students and staff. Even though the student union already do an incredible job there is always room for improvement to make all students safe on campus.

Those who know me well know that I believe in diversity, culture and pride coming together, and the idea that working together as a union we will achieve incredible things.  #VoteForChoto
