Hi, I’m Yolanda McBride a 3rd Year Forensic Science student, my face might be recognisable from both sides of the bar with being a member of the student staff for both LRV and Ember. I am a committee member for the women’s football and futsal team and have also played for women’s rugby. I am also an active member of the LGBT+ community.
I want to be Union officer as I believe with my experiences in my time at Staffs, I can improve student life.
Communication:
- Creating clear lines of communications between the University, Union, Schools and Students. With each faculty being held accountable student impacted decisions
Safety:
- Promotion of Angela and Angels to ensure students always feel staff whilst on campus.
- Create a safe space for sexual harassment/assault to be reported with the opportunity to remain anonymous.
- Mental health training for committee members of society and teams. Having committee members dedicated to student wellbeing.
Sexual Health:
- On-campus sexual health hub for STI screening once a week. Once a month LGBT clinic for both education and awareness. All students should feel comfortable in receive help and support during their time at Staffs.
Student Voice:
- More student voice input into events, what themes do you as students want the venues, and more student input such as student DJ and music technology student to run the tech for events, creating opportunities for work experience, and once again making the Union work for the students.
Student Support
- More advertising of other GPs
- Financial Aid and advice Budgeting tips, a forum to be made for people to request help and support with any financial struggles.
Sustainability
- Have more access to recycling points around campus.
