Candidate for the position of West Midlands Police - Force Rep: PCDA

Dan Mccullen

Empowerment to Students, A Voice to be heard.

I joined the police force in January 2021 coming from a strong military background. The skills, leadership and disciplines I learnt here are what I bring to this becoming a rep.

I am a firm believer in that everyone has something to offer from the highest level down to the lowest. I will always stand with the smallest person.  Everyone has a voice which must be heard in order to get a result that is effective for all. Standing up for what is right, often even if we stand alone.

There is a lack of communication between students and the university. Where our concerns are ignored on our course and our feedback is not listened to. For example, we said we did not like recorded lectures and needed an input. When our next module opened, we had all pre-recorded lectures. Which as you can imagine caused outrage amongst the cohort.

Issues that are escalated up the chain become too trivial to those who can actually deal with them.

My goal if is to empower all students!

I will chase and persistently make sure every student is listened too and valued. To get the most from the course. Instead of pulling your hair out and feeling lost.

My Mission:

  1. mediate between all students and the university so things are pitched at the right level.
  2. Make sure all students are valued.
  3. Make sure lecturers actually give us the support we need (Instead of saying, your adults, just read the info)
  4. To create a better working environment for all involved in the process.
  5. if you have a concern no matter how small, it will be raised.

if you vote for me, you will be Empowered, listened too and valued. We will have a voice. We will be represented.
