My name is Toni Edwards, I study Psychology and Child Development.

This past year I have had the pleasure of representing the Foundation Year Psychology students. It's been a difficult year with online learning, lack of social interaction with one another, however it ended on a positive note. After many weeks of knocking on every door and using every available resource I successfully secured the opportunity for over 1000 partnership students to have the right to apply for a Covid Fund. This ensured that students were treated fairly and helped those who needed it most.

I received a lovely recommendation  to apply for the position of Department Rep, which has only encouraged me further to ensure that students are given the appropriate representation when they need it. The level of commitment to having all voices heard that i have demonstrated this past year, is a small example of the effort and time I put into tasks.

Previous issues with tech and social spaces were also addressed and resolved through listening to students concerns and acting quickly to get issues resolved. By building professional rapport with staff at the college and university it has given me the platform to address concerns and to ask for relevant changes and support for students. When students were unable to approach me after class due to restrictions, I created a online poll to ensure that during rep meetings I was up to date with their concerns that they wanted to raise.

I have proven this past year that I am not afraid to have uncomfortable or awkward conversations about money/discrimination/equal and fair treatment for all students. I will make sure that when opportunities to be involved in the changes to benefit the Psychology students arise, I will be actively ensuring that all students are included and feel they are reaching their full potential during the next academic year at Staffs!

If you vote for me I will ensure effective communication so that all students are heard. I will listen and make time to  ensure you are represented purposefully. Being a mum to two children, I have the skills to multi task  and motivation to make this year the best one yet. Organising/ being involved in social aspects of being a Staffs student is important this year especially so I will be looking forward to that! I can't wait to meet everyone and look forward to better, more positive times in the future.
