Hello – I’m Con. I am coming to the end of my first year of study. Similar to others, I have had various concerns and frustrations throughout this year with the programme which have been raised but not necessarily acted upon! Being both a student and an operational officer presents various challenges – I have been to University before and I understand how hard things can be if not properly understood (i.e. referencing, lessons etc). whilst also trying to balance the practicality of the job makes it ever more challenging. I am a straight talker and would consult with all my colleagues to address things with the University and would be relentless in ensuring we get the best provision possible, and concerns were actually addressed and not just ‘acknowledged’.
I believe being a Force Representative will allow a concentrated channel to raise these concerns with the University in order to make our probationary period and academic experience as smooth and successful as possible.
I used to be a Youth Commissioner for the PCC and presented various reports to local command teams and the Strategic Police and Crime Board so feel I have experience in conveying key issues to those of all backgrounds and positions – without shying away from it!
