Introduction
I'm Alfie, a 2nd-year games design student running for Union Officer. In this manifesto, I outline my goals for improving student life in various aspects.
Student Experience
I aim to enhance the student experience in a vareity of different ways. I would like to implement SU-owned vending machines, allowing students to vote on stocked items for easier late-night assignment work. I propose opening campus kitchens to students for proper meals while working and increasing room availability after hours.
Diversity and Inclusion
Continuing the previous union officers' efforts, I want to ensure every student feels welcome and has equal opportunities, regardless of their background.
Student Wellbeing
Focusing on physical, financial, and mental wellbeing, I plan to raise awareness of services like the student success fund and launch a stop smoking/vaping initiative. As someone trying to quit, I understand the strain it causes and believe support can be beneficial.
Communication
Improving communication between the SU and students is crucial. I will create more ways for students to get involved in decisions, such as the items stocked in the aforementioned vending machines, Gobble themes, and union-run events.
In conclusion, my goal is to make every student's time at Staffs the best it can be. Please consider me for Union Officer this year!
