Harriet Rogers

My name is Harriet Rogers, and I am running to be the Pokémon Society's next Wellbeing and Inclusion officer. Pokémon has been the most influential interest throughout my life and the Pokémon Society has been one of the more significant contributors to my fulfilment in this first year at Staffordshire University. The society is welcoming to all who want to join and have an interest in the Pokémon franchise, and I want to help in continuing that nature of welcoming into the next year of this incredible society.

I have previous experience in being a part of a well-being team and in supporting others through talking, providing information, and signposting helpful services. While I was never able to stay long, I joined every session in the society and I would continue to do the same if I were an officer, giving my all to provide a fun experience at the Pokémon Society.

I would offer an open and safe space to all members, new or returning, and help promote a welcoming and fun atmosphere in the sessions. I can be that person that you can talk to if you are struggling and support you however I can. I will make use of modmail to further this providing a point of contact so everyone can voice their concerns, feedback, or any questions.

One change I want to make is being able to encourage more interactivity in sessions between the committee and members. This would be done by introducing more activities that are both engaging and prompt discussion. An example is continuing with the use of kahoot quizzes in sessions where facts from the series are shared and discussed with. We could also have design challenges such as designing your own gym leader.

I would also be available earlier than the session’s starting time to provide a space for those who do want and prefer to come in earlier and possibly avoid a large crowd. I want to be there and help you in anything you may need to the best of my ability.
