Make gobble great again

Hey everyone, my name is Kai,
current RAMS communications officer as of writing this.

What I want to achieve as a full-time officer

  • Getting involved with Newcastle and Hanley

    • One of my biggest drives for becoming a full-time officer is to push for safer travel from campus to Hanley and Newcastle under Lyme. The goal of this is to cut down on unwanted attention staff's students receive when traveling by foot, avoiding the risk of cabs and late-night busses, especially around winter.

    • Student nights are increasing in popular locations in Newcastle and Hanley. One of my goals as a full-time officer is to get more places in the area involving students which means more discounts for staff's students and student-only nights.

  • Sexual Misconduct action

    • Staffs university doesn't just need awareness, it needs action against individuals who threaten the safety of students and as such, I will be pushing the implementation of legal support for students who wish to pursue cases outside of the union. Sexual misconduct is a crime. Not a misdemeanor.

  • Societal autonomy improvement

    • Societies need to be able to protect members against harmful individuals outside of the current student union guidelines. Safety is an immediate concern, not a form to fill out and a waiting time.
As an officer, I will push for extra safeguards to be in place for committees to take temporary immediate action against harmful individuals that will allow the student union ample time to respond.

  • Improve the quality of student events such as gobble

    • Staffs university no longer has anything to offer students past their first years and freshers. I will be pushing for more and better events that actually engage students in university life.
