Hi everyone! My name is Joe, I am studying MA Film Practice I have been a student at Staffs since 2020. In that time, I have worked behind the bar in Ember, Verve and LRV. I am also a Student Ambassador, a committee member for the Scarlettes and I have recently been producing video content for the Games department.

PRIORITISING YOUR STUDENT EXPERIENCE

We have seen a lot of change in the past 12 months across the union and the university. From a university re-brand, venues closing, reduced service, stock issues. This needs to change! I want to ensure that the relationship between the Union and University is improved, so that student concerns are addressed and finding mature solutions. On top of this, I want to make sure that students get a better say on how the Union can improve services, events and facilities to make sure you’re getting the university experience that you want.

ACCESSIBILITY/SAFETY ACROSS THE UNION

The university and the union prioritise in their values about being fair and inclusive. I want to ensure all union/university facilities are 100% wheelchair accessible and lifts are regularly checked and serviced. Next, I want to prioritise the awareness of the union safety procedures (Ask for Angela and stoppers). London! I want to work with university to provide ways of being able to fully realise your projects by either improving mocap facilities or provide a travel bursary to access Stoke resources.

IMPROVED MARKETING ACROSS THE UNION

Advertising for union/society events has become insufficient to gain interest in the last few years. I want to put forward a relevant and consistent marketing strategy so that you don’t miss out on all union events, pop-ups, offers and daily deals.
