ALEX WOOD
Nothing About Us Without Us!
During my time at Staffs I have been a Student Ambassador, A Student Demonstrator & a Course Rep for Gameplay Design & Production.
I started being a course rep because I personally felt a barrier between the students and those in charge. I went to the meetings and made sure that barrier is lessened by sharing what I learned with as many people as possible.
During this time, I have done my best to push for positive change, like making sure conduct is correct between staff and students, addressing worries brought forward and finding out information which has felt hidden.
However, as a course rep my reach is limited, being a full-time officer would allow me to ensure higher transparency between staff and students, allow me to follow up on more questions and concerns, and ensure students opinions and thoughts are considered in as many places as possible, all while ensuring I can feed back to as many students as possible.
Being a student ambassador and demonstrator has given me a very in-depth knowledge of the university and its internal systems, I know who to ask, where to go and what to do when something is raised. All skills which are crucial to a role such as this.
I have already pushed for change against the university itself, playing a vital role in addressing the concerns about graduation and guaranteeing that every student has all of the information available.
As a course rep I have made it a priority that people can contact me easily and voice their concerns in a confidential and professional manner. I aim to keep this going ensuring that everybody has the chance to push for change.
Thank you for your consideration :)
