Proud to be Staffs Story: Level 6 Events Management cohort

Student Cohort | School of Justice, Security and Sustainability

"This year the level 6 events management cohort was tasked with developing and hosting an event for our final year project, leading to an exhibition and a range of charity fundraiser events. Throughout the year, it has been difficult with the uncertainty of Covid restrictions and the impact it had on the live-events industry. But the class pulled together to support and help each other, whether that be in the planning process, volunteering at the events or attending. It was amazing to see the whole class come together and make a hard year into an enjoyable one, plus the events themselves were brilliant. On 19 February 2022, Jade Hill, Emily Hodgson, Sarah Rees and Olivia Watson held a charity ball for Dougie Mac raising £2185.80. On 26 February 2022, Lucy Buttery, Shawnee Fryer, Grace Hurst, Madelaine Keen and Ashleigh Moseley held a charity fashion show for Cancer Research UK raising £1014.72. From 2 March to 5 March 2022, Owen Cooke, Richard Heath and Saheb Khan held a creative arts exhibition alongside the Catalyst Launch Week Celebrations. On 6 March 2022, Evy Boden, Lucy Greenall, Meg Perry and Merridy Wood held a charity local business fair for The Alice Charity raising £447.51. On 12 March 2022, Bethany Bairstow-Morris, Amber Brownsword, Paige Burnham, Lydia Turner, and Natalie Stokes held a charity gala for UHNM raising £4664.51. They all did amazing work whether that be in raising money for the charities or raising awareness of the artists. I know they will all go on to become brilliant event professionals and thrive in their new surroundings just as they have in the class. This class is what has made me #proudtobestaffs! Would also like to mention a few of the tutors that supported the groups in the creation of the events and helped guide us throughout the past few years to become the professionals we are today: Carol Southall, Paul Walters and Jon Fairburn. Thank you!"
