Better Staffs Forum

One of the outcomes of the recent Better Staffs Forum was the reignition of our Green Initiative across campus.

With over 16,000 members, two bar-restaurants, two shops and a club, it’s really important that we remain environmentally responsible as an organisation. We’ve been very successful with this in the past, but now plans are falling into place to see us improve even further.

At the Better Staffs Forum, GreenPad’s Mark Spence, our President Jaime-Lee Cunningham and student Nick Heywood, who proposed the improvements, agreed to work with the University’s Environmental Manager Adam Van Winsum to ensure that the best decisions are made, both from a green perspective and for the Staffs students.

Nick had expressed his student voice at the forum, saying that he thought the stationed recycling bins on Leek Road weren’t signposted or labelled well enough, nor were they big enough to accommodate the population using the campus every day.

The forum agreed and now we expect these changes to be made soon, which will hopefully lead to even further environmental focus.

If you have any opinions on this aspect of the University and Students’ Union, let us know. You can send an email to union@staffs.ac.uk or even come along to the next Better Staffs Forum and have your say, keep an eye out on our website for details.
