Staffordshire University has been awarded Bronze level accreditation as a Carbon Literate Organisation, in an acheivement supporting the University's drive towards becoming carbon neutral by 2030

In October 2022, Staffordshire University was awarded its Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation certificate.

The Carbon Literacy Project is a unique training scheme that helps Universities, their students, and their staff to understand the carbon impacts of their everyday actions and help them make informed choices to address climate change and reduce carbon emissions.

Hannah Blackburn, Students' Union President said, "The Students' Union believes that educating students is key to driving the agenda for a sustainable future forward. Higher Education has an important role to play, from education for sustainable development through to increased everyday awareness and reduction of carbon emissions and impacts. The Students' Union has been committed to supporting the University's Carbon Literate Organisation status and to promoting the Carbon Literacy training to students from the launch. As key stakeholders within the University estate, the Students' Union has an important part to play in supporting the carbon neutral by 2030 agenda and Carbon Literate standards. We recognised early on and took the opportunity to offer the University's Carbon Literacy Training to all career staff members, as well as promoting the FREE Carbon Literacy Training to students. I am pleased that the Bronze level has been achieved and look forward to working alongside the University in striving towards silver accreditation."
