Student Group of the month – Christian Union

“Tis’ the season to be Jolly!”

Last month saw the annual Christmas Carol Service held by the University at Stoke Minster. People across the whole of Stoke-on-Trent came to see the event led by our very own University Chaplain Mick Williams to join in with the Christmas spirit and bringing the community closer together.

Although there were choirs represented from across the city, our very own Christian Union stole the show with their acoustic songs, representing both Union and University impeccably. Not only did they sing beautifully, but their performance warranted applause from the whole church.

This isn’t the first time Christian Union have been involved with the Universities Carol Service. Indeed, the society has been involved with several Chaplaincy-led events for a number of years, supporting students as well as supporting the University and beyond.

The Christian Union has demonstrated a number of attributes that we look for in our student groups:

Collaboration: working closely with University Chaplaincy in delivering a successful event.

Supporting Staffs: representing both the Union and University in contributing to a major event in the university calendar

Community and belonging: connecting the society with the university, and then beyond that to the rest of the city helps create a sense of belonging to both university and the wider area.

Congratulations Christian Union, you make us Proud to be Staffs!
