On the 27th October, this year's Chair of the Disabled Students' Representative Network, Jack Marshall, hosted the first meeting of the academic year!

Those present discussed their own experiences of disability, with Jack communicating his passion for making our University the best and most inclusive for those students who have extra accessibility requirements.

During the meeting, three key areas of action werte identified in order to boost the impact the Network can have this year:

  • Engaging more students in activity beyond informal online discussion
  • Bolstering the promotion in place for the Network to reach more students
  • Setting and achieving priorities as a network of connected students

It was a constructive and forward-looking meeting, where the students present identified three key ways to achieve the immediate goals above:

  • Host a mixed social and discussion event, along with drop-in slots with Jack as Chair of the Network
  • Creating flyers and posters as physical promotion around the Stoke campus and sharing examples of disabled students as "students like you"
  • Meeting the goals defined in early September and listing them on the Network's webpage
