A photograph of Joseph Knight (full-time officer) cupping his hands around his mouth and shouting, i04/03 - In the previous week, I spent a lot of time talking to external organisations about hosting industry events and talks at the university! We've already got some exciting games companies wanting to get involved. Also, a Cyber Security group called Beacon (not to be confused with the uni's app) are quite eager to do some industry talks and networking events on our campus! Aside from those, I also helped approve new courses coming in the future, had discussions regarding the new OfS free speech regulations and helped represent the Students' Union at the London offer holder day on Saturday.

11/03 - Last week, the first official meeting of the Here East Society working group took place! With a representative from almost all of the Here East universities in attendance. We discussed what our goals are, how each of our internal systems works, and how we should approach a collaboration going forward, so stay tuned for more updates! I also had another meeting with the Community Manager of Game Dev London, and it looks like we are gonna be hosting our first industry social event in early May! So also keep an eye out for tickets if you're in the London area, as attendance will be capped. In addition, I also attended the university's regulations group, where myself and another union member discussed with the university about how we should approach the new OfS free speech regulations. Finally, the officers had a meeting with Clare Saunders, the new Director of Learning and Teaching, about what "Next Gen Education" really means for Staffordshire University going forward.

18/03 - I started last week by giving a tour and arena tech demo to the Beacon Cyber Security Group, which went really well, and they are eager to work with us in the future. I also had the London SMT meeting, where I helped deliver the London SU report (shoutout to Connor, our SU coordinator down in London; you're killing it). Finally, I engaged in more Here East Student Society discussions with our Union and how we should go about setting up the base of operations on our campus.

25/03 - Last week I travelled up to Stoke to attend the university's Academic Board, where I presented the Student's Union report. One of the main concerns which I raised was surrounding the change in out-of-hours campus access and how it's affecting students. I also engaged in discussions surrounding how the current university complaints procedure would change to be in line with the new OfS free speech regulations, which we are consulting on now. In addition, I attended the first HEPS school academic committee, which was great to touch base with all of the new staff members I will be reporting student feedback to. On Wednesday, I helped out at the SUL open day to talk to prospective students about what the Student Union is. Other than that, I had the Trustee Board, where we discussed the Union's current position and the second Here East Student Society meeting, which discussed timetabling and behaviour policies.
