I am excited to share with our student community something a bit outside our usual academic hustle - how we get from point A to B without breaking the bank.

Travel costs can be a silent budget killer, and I know that first-hand. Whether it's getting to campus, heading to work, or just exploring what our County has to offer - the costs add up. That’s why we’ve spent the past few weeks digging into what transport discounts are out there for us students.

You might not know, but there are some pretty great deals on buses, trains, and other public transport services designed just for students. These aren’t special offers or limited-time deals; they're standing discounts our bus and rail companies provide to make life a bit easier for us.

Getting access to these discounts is usually as simple as showing your student ID or providing proof of enrolment, which you can do at most transit stations or online. I encourage you to take a moment this week to look into this. We're working on putting together all the detailed information about how to take advantage of these discounts, and it will be shared regularly in the coming weeks, but here's one to start you off:

Did you know you can get up to 45% off bus travel around Stoke-on-Trent by using the Affordable Fares scheme? Learn more here!

As a Students' Union, we want to make sure that every one of us can get around affordably because every little bit of savings helps. It’s more than just saving a few quids on a bus ride; it’s about making our student life a bit more manageable and a lot more enjoyable.

So, let’s not let the cost of a ride limit where we go or what we do. Check out these discounts, start saving, and maybe even discover a new favourite spot in town!

As always, we're here to help make your student experience the best it can be. If you have questions or ideas or just want to chat, the Student Union is always available!
