This September a star is coming to Staffordshire University. She’s been a mainstay of British television for over 15 years, with a lead role in a seminal BBC series, and is a true legend of the screen. She also happens to weigh 350kg, consists mostly of fibreglass and metal and has the face of ‘a mutant alien dinosaur’.

Matilda is one of the legendary ‘house robots’, an integral part of Robot Wars, the recently revived TV series which originally ran on the BBC from 1998 to 2003. Alongside her house robot colleagues, Sir Killalot, Dead Metal and Shunt, who all made the 2016 return, she was infamous for wrecking the dreams of garage odd bods trying their luck in the arena with their home-made machines.

So before coming to see Matilda during Welcome Week, take a look at some of her best moments over the years.
