Speak Week is your chance for your voice to be heard on the issues that really matter to you during your time at Staffordshire University.

All you need to do is let us know your answer to this one question:

"What would you do if you ran the University?"

Your feedback will be used to make changes at Staffs, big and small, so share your thoughts here!

Here are a few suggestions you have made so far...

From exams...

"Some topics seem exam-focused only, I have known a lecture to talk only of the future exam before any content was actually learned or introduced. The exams should all be multiple-choice, lots of points are lost for slight deviations to wording choice but the answer technically correct, in my experience answer has been modified and the mark awarded but clearly multiple-choice offers immediate acknowledgement of understanding without after event fixes required. The parking has excessive disability allowance, in my experiment, it is never close to 10% populated and I myself given a fine, even though possessing a permit, had to park in a made-up space due to overpopulation of spaces. Given the acceptance of lecture time lost to wi-fi issues etc, I hope the university bears the same amount of consideration for when normality resumes and childcare adaptions create difficult timetabling issues for us, students, over the age of 21, not living in dorms, suggest start times of 9.15 allowing those students with children the chance to avoid costly school clubs. The university appears diverse but most timetables seem to assume students live on-site and have no children."

...to research...

"Increase the universities reputation to attract a high amount of fundings to conduct extensive and valuable research, by first, providing students with a better library, second, informing students on how to actually study affectively, third, provide students with undergraduate research opportunities, fourth, it's not about the big machines, sometimes, the little machines can be just as valuable, fifth, provide students with a bigger picture model of the course to visually show students how each module connects to one another and how one field of study relates to another, this would enable students to get a bigger picture and the work would make more sense. And etc."

...to the few we were expecting this year...

"I would refund a sizeable portion of the tuition fees to students due to the heavy disruption of covid."

...and the changes we've been campaigning for years...

"RECYCLING!! All students go through so many recyclable materials like bottles and there is nowhere to recycle on campus."

...we want to represent your academic interests, so make sure you have your say!

"More options on additional Modules, especially for games design on the London Campus, especially as I have come to learn that the Stoke Campus has many more options on additional modules to their courses. This has people talking about changing campus just for the additional course options as London seems to be predesignated. Even if students could vote on the additional modules from year 1 into year 2 to allow them to complete work more people would better enjoy."
