Spotlight of the Week – RAMS (Rock, Alternative, Metal Society)

Hey, students! We hope you are enjoying your time in the uni. Is there something missing? Have you got the time to engage in extracurricular activities? Clubs and Societies are here as an opportunity to meet people with similar interests to you, socialise, make new friends and add more fun and excitement to your Uni experience! To create awareness about all our societies, we're bringing you this regular student group Spotlight, where we will introduce all the societies you may want to join!

This week's Spotlight: RAMS (Rock, Alternative, Metal, Society)!

RAMS was founded in 2007; it is also the largest official society in the university, with 153 active members! The current committee members are Jae Ababio - President; Henry Plumb - Communications; Connor Jones – Wellbeing and Inclusion; and Brandon Millett – Finance.

RAMS has been the hub for music, social gatherings, and club nights at Staffordshire University since its inception! If you're into music, hanging out with cool people, and feeling like you belong, our crowd is super diverse.?

Every member of RAMS is unique, but they all share a common love for music. They're always open to new members and proud to be a part of the #proudtobestaffs community!

RAMS Activities and Events

RAMS hosts regular music nights, with Karaoke at the Terrace at weekends and Invasion at Verve on Mondays. They also support the MISFIT Nights on every second Monday of the month in LRV and work closely with other societies like Coven, Fight Club, Myth, and the LGBTQ+ Network.

Impromptu unofficial meetups are also organised at other student events such as Tuesday Karaoke, Flashback Friday and LRV Presents nights.

BENEFITS of Being a RAMS Member

Membership gets you free entry to RAMS events and discounted entry to society-associated events; also gets discounted entry to?select collaborative events?such as the?Monster Ball?(30th October,?LRV)?Valentines Bash,?and?Tavern,?MISFIT, Skullcracker and Devils Nights as long as you have a wristband, pays itself back in discounts very fast!

They also try and arrange outings/other events by popular member demand, like camping together at Download Festival.

They are currently working on Zero-Cost Events, Charity Events, more discounts associated with the Wristband, more associate events, and broader merchandise customisation (patches for jackets/clothes so members can make their own merch to help with the cost of living!)
