Spending the night, out in the cold, exposed to the winter elements...

Can they do it on a wet and windy Friday night at the Bet365 Stadium? Well, for our Cue Sports and African Caribbean Society, they sure could!

The Big Sleep Out, organised by the Stoke City Community Trust is an annual event whereby people from the community come together and sleep rough for a night to raise awareness of homelessness as well as raising money for the Macari Centre, a charity which supports people who are homeless.

With only two weeks’ notice, both societies agreed to take part, as well as bracing themselves for a further £100 fundraising target and to represent both Union and University by sleeping on the floor inside the cold Bet365 Stadium. Not only were they able to reach their final goal and achieve their financial target, but they did so with a smile on their faces.

In the recent ITV televised Stoke City FA cup match against Brighton, a feature was made which included members from Cue Sports and can be found here

We’re really proud of both ACS & Cue Sports for taking part and contributing to an amazing cause. So proud that, for February’s Student Group of the Month, we have awarded it to both Cue Sports and the African Caribbean Society – Congratulations!
