Every year your Union runs the Great Donate campaign, helping students make sustainable choices when moving out of accomodation at the end of the academic year.
The Great Donate is a recycling initiative that makes it easy for students to donate unwanted items that they don't wish to take home with them.
The items are either dropped into the recycling bins on campus, or sorted by volunteers and donated to key partners, including:
- Students' Union Food Hub
- Children's Air Ambulance
- Macari Foundation
- British Heart Foundation.
We have been working with the British Heart Foundation via the Great Donate since 2012, as part of the BHF Pack For Good Campaign.
During this time, donations from Staffordshire students have:
Diverted 37,080 tonnes from landfill ~ equivalent to 218,851Kg of CO2 emissions
Raised £64,890 in second hand goods sales for the Bristish Heart Foundation.
You can read the full latest report from the British Heart Foundation here
In the meantime, you can continue to donate via the handy recycling bins that we have on campus.
