Volunteering is a great way to build your CV alongside your studies.

You can use volunteer hub services to search for specific opportunities that meet your interests and availability and there is so much out there to choose from; whether it be working remotely offering telephone support or digging in and getting your hands dirty. Here's a sample of what's available: 

London Based Volunteering

  • Wild London have a wide range of opportunities including, river restoration, species counts and monitoring, visitor centre support and delivering learning opportunities for children in their forest schools.

  • Team London Volunteer have a range of mentoring opportunities working with young people as well as huge variety of other roles too.

Sustainability & the Environment

  • Staffordshire Wildlife Trust Have a wide range of volunteer opportunities from practical land management and conservation activities, through to retail assistant and admin roles. 

  • Canal & River Trust Whether you can spare a few minutes or a couple of days, from lock keeping to wildlife conservation, we have an incredible variety of volunteer roles that keep our precious 250-year-old network of canals and rivers alive. Care / Support services

  • Staffordshire County Council are offering a number of opportunities with children's centres

  • Staffordshire Sight Loss have a range of opportunities including Telephone befriending, Tech support, Community Hub Volunteers, Peer Group Support volunteers and Community Independent Living Support volunteers, DBS checks and training provided.

Tackling Poverty

Emmanus North Staffs Have many opportunities available from retail operatives, warehouse assistants, van drivers, PAT testers, receptionists, Building maintenance team members and research assistants to social media marketing roles.

Working with/for Animals

  • Cats Protection are looking for Fundraiser event helpers, Online fundraisers, Social media volunteers, Website editors.

  • My Sighted Guide - In this role you will support a person with sight loss to get out and about in their local community, building self-confidence, increasing social interaction, and promoting independence.

Online / Remote

  • Studenteer is run by students and connects students and recent graduates with to charities, good causes and mentors for remote, volunteer placements.

  • Bookmark Reading; One in four children will leave primary school unable to read well. We urgently need reading volunteers to read with a child, for 30 minutes, twice a week.

Sign up today and you could help a child aged between 5 and 9 years old learn to read, so they can succeed in school and beyond.
