Feature: Klopp the Difference

Since Jurgen Klopp has been appointed Liverpool manager at the start of October, a lot has changed on the red side of Merseyside. The Reds have gained a fear factor, which has been severely lacking since the departure of Luis Suarez… and there is a lot more action on the pitch.

Klopp came to Liverpool with a big reputation from his time at Dortmund, winning the Bundesliga and taking Dortmund to a Champions League final. He has also nurtured talents such as Robert Lewandowski, Marco Reus, Mario Gotze and more.

There was a lot of pessimism as to whether this was the right move for Klopp with Liverpool’s recent managerial history, but so far he’s proved this could be a perfect fit. Liverpool are playing a lot more attractive and flowing football, which is what the Klopp was in desperate need of.

This was shown this past weekend when Liverpool thrashed Manchester City at the Etihad 4-1. Klopp has even got performances out of players such as Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho, who have come under serious fire over the past two seasons.

Klopp has also had to overcome some injury problems as well, with Captain Jordan Henderson struggling to overcome a foot injury. Clinical finisher Daniel Sturridge has only been fit for a total of two games since the start of the season and £32.5m man Christian Benteke has been in and out of the squad with injury… but these injuries have given the chance for players like Jordan Ibe and Roberto Firmino to show their abilities.

Can Klopp keep this up and get Liverpool into the top 4 or even higher? He has the ability and the players (if he can keep them fit). It’s possible that Liverpool will be a force again within the next few years.
