What we get up to:
The Debates
We aim to hold debates every other week in either a venue in the local area or at the University. Each debate will have a theme and members will be aware of the theme the week before, the debates will be opened by the Chair who will deliver a breif speech and will be proceeded by discussion on the speech.
It's important to note that ALL DISCUSSIONS AND DEBATES WILL BE HELD UNDER CHATHAM HOUSE RULES. This means that everything said during the debates will not be discussed outside of the events. This will help those who may not be as confident a chance to speak up. It encourages a more open and productive exchange of ideas, especially in settings where sensitive or confidential topics are being discussed, such as policy discussions, academic conferences, or closed-door meetings. This rule helps create an environment where participants can engage in frank and meaningful discussions while still respecting the privacy and security of those involved.
Trips & Events
All trips will be subject to a cost and can range from day trips to Parliament, the Foreign Office and / or local MP offices.
Guest Speakers & Debates
Due to my work and networking in the last 3 years I have built up a very reputable contact list for possible guest speakers, these range from Ex-Prime Ministers and Foreign Secs. We aim to start to book guests in the New Year.
