Growing Concern is located at the Stoke allotments, off the Leek Road in between the Crime Scene House and the Rep Theatre, ST4 2TR. Everybody is welcome. Sustainability in action

This is the official SU page for the Growing Concern Society at Staffordshire University!

Growing Concern is located at the Stoke allotments, just off the Leek Road in between the Crime Scene House and the Repertory Theatre. Everyone is welcome, students and staff of the university, as well as members of the public and pets.

The Garden is a 6 allotment site. Our focus is on SUSTAINABILITY; growing pesticide/chemical free organic fruit, vegetables and flowers and dividing the produce up between ourselves, taking whatever we believe we deserve! Put in a few hours a week and that's your food shopping for the week. It's almost like a miniature smallholding. Taking action for a more sustainable and self sufficient future for us all.

We are accessible to disabled needs with raised beds and ramps and are always accommodating! Our facilities include a 50 foot Polytunnel, four greenhouses, a large number of raised beds and a first class shed “complex” heated with a wood burning stove and complete with an eco-toilet. Well, you need an ample amount of tea breaks.

We have installed solar panels and now have electricity on site, powering lighting and a chest freezer. Also installed are brand new wheelchair accessable pathways and an accessable greenhouse.

Session times are usually;

Sunday 11am-4pm

And other sessions posted on the Facebook group

These are subject to change, please request to join the mailing list or check out our FB page for confirmation!

You don't need to know anything. You don’t need to be a regular visitor, though we’d love it if you could! Pop down and say hello because we love to meet new people, no obligations. Just a carefree time with some carefree people. And lots of cups of tea.
