This year, the process of borrowing laptops - just like most other parts of life - will work slightly differently. The University want to ensure that students are not disadvantaged by the move to blended delivery and can still fully engage with their studies during this time.
There are a few options available:
- Now the campus is fully open, PCs, devices and software are accessible. You can check the availability before you travel to campus via the PC finder in Beacon or the web freepcfinder.staffs.ac.uk. The devices shown are the socially distanced devices available for use.
- The Lapsafe’s have been restocked so short term loan laptops are available in the Science Centre and Ashley 2 for periods of up to 24 hours. We have a number of short term loan laptops available at the Stafford Campus which can be loaned via the Library help desk.
- If you need a device for the whole academic year, you can apply through the hardship fund for a long term loan. All the information you need can be found at staffs.ac.uk/support_depts/digital-services/lapsafe.jsp This is open to students from all Campuses.
- We have anticipated that there may be a requirement for us to provide devices for students in our accommodation during periods of Isolation/COVID diagnosis. Devices have been put aside for this and will be dealt with by Reslife during the process of contacting any affected students.
