Our Student Groups make us #ProudToBeStaffs

Each year our student community achieve incredible things with their clubs, societies and networks and this year, despite Covid-19 unfortunately changing our plans to celebrate in person, we still want to recognise all their hard work.

Moving online

The original plan was to host a huge celebration at Kings Hall, however due to circumstances things changed. This wasn't going to stop us from showcasing the incredible things student groups had achieved this year!

Community & Collaboration Award

Shortlisted: Mountaineering Club; Mature, Parent & Carer Network

Winner: Boxing

By working together with other student groups, improving their communications to build a community and showing a new energy to reach and engage more students our Boxiety Society are having a massive impact on their community. Thank you to all of our Boxing Society for making us Proud to be Staffs.

Raise & Give (RAG) Award

Shortlisted: Movember Collaboration, Islamic Society

Winner: The Nappy Project

Here at your Students' Union,we’re lucky to have such generous students who take their time to raise money for the charities and causes that matter with them. Sometimes those causes can be closer to home, supporting families and individuals right here in our community. Thank you to all of our The Nappy Project Team for making us Proud to be Staffs.

Event of the Year

Shortlisted: Wake Up On Trent (Fight Club); Global Games Jam (Games Development Society)

Winner: LGBT+ Conference (LGBT+ Network)

Our incredible LGBT+ Network hosted student communities from across the country and shared best practice on how to engage with and support their members.

Commitee of the Year

For our Committee of the Year we celebrate students who have been 'Student Group Heroes' all year!

Winners:

  • Gracie Van Der Westhuizen (Video Games Union)
  • Andrew Ogunnaike (Video Games Union)
  • Jamie Conquest (Staffs Smash)
  • Jack Kenwright (Fight Club)

 

Academic Society of the Year

Shortlisted: Social Work Society; Games Development Society

Winner: Midwifery Society

Alongside major commitments to their studies and their calling, the wonderful Midwifery Society have truly amazed us in the things they've achieved this year. Thank you to the all in the Midwifery Society for making us Proud to be Staffs.

Best New Start-Up

Shortlisted: Hip Hop Society, Cue Sports Society, Cosplay Society

Winner: Boxing

Starting a new Student Group is hard, but through exceptional commitment, drive and taking every chance to Be Part of It, the Boxing Society have done amazing!

 

Student Group of the Year

Shortlist: LGBT+ Network, Theme Park Society, Boxing

Winner: Mountaineering

By setting their sights high the SUMC have achieved great things this year, thanks to their wonderful committee. From preparing to compete for the first time, through to great events in awful weather, they've done it all. Thank you Staffordshire University Mountaineering Club, for making us Proud to be Staffs.
