I have a background of approximately 4 and a half years of dance previous to joining university in September 2018 and joining Staffordshire University Dance Club (SUDC). I have since been in SUDC from September 2018 onwards, giving me a total of over 6 years’ experience! I currently study 'Visitor Attraction and Resort Management' and am in my second year of studying this (before topping up).
Whilst my course is not directly linked to dance, dance is a strong hobby and passion that I plan on continuing for all of my life. I have got experience in many styles including: Hip Hop, Contemporary, Acro, Jazz, disco-freestyle and Musical Theatre. I have also assisted in running classes as well as the paperwork side of the dance school, as well as taking payments, and sorting costumes on a work placement in early 2018, therefore i already have some experience in this style of role. I do have a module within my course based on 'marketing and digital communications', therefore it could also support me in advertising and communicating the club.
I believe I will be a large help in the role 'Dance Club - Communications Officer' and will be happy in making sure all communications needed are made as well as ensuring that this club is advertised as much as possible for more students to join this club and bring updates as regularly as possible.
Communication within the club will include events/competitions/photos/videos etc at its best. All social media platforms the club runs will be used (Insta/Facebook etc). I have already been in the club for a year previous to this, therefore I have an understanding of how the club is run. For this reason, I believe I am the best candidate for this role.
Having a boy as part of the club management (Communications) would benifit the chance of other boys joining the club too! This would especially be an advantage during events such as freshers fair (when we first advertise). I plan on updating the SUDC information with new pictures, photos and information on the students union website. Other plans include: restarting the social media platforms that are not currently being used (Youtube/Twitter). Plus looking at some other events that i have in mind which i will discuss with the club manager. Me always being 10 steps ahead currently means that i will ensure that all information is communicated in a timely manner and any queries about the club are always responded to ASAP.
I have been in SUDC during 2018/19 year, and 2019/20 year in both competition teams, as well as open classes and always engage in the club as much as possible! I would LOVE to be accepted for this role!
